Community Connection ~ September 27, 2026: Take a Note, Leave a Note

In the spirit of our community poem, this week we’re kicking off a new collaborative activity that celebrates the ways in which we can show up for each other. We’ll call it “Take a Note, Leave a Note.”

There are now two envelopes on the bulletin board in the Narthex. One says “Leave One” and has slips of paper and a pen in it. The other says “Take One” and is (for now) empty. When you’re feeling like you have enough water in your well, as it were, to offer some to others, take a slip of paper out of the “Leave One” envelope and write words of encouragement, prayer, or blessing on it. They don’t need to be directed at anyone in particular because you don’t know in whose hands they will end up. Then place the paper in the “Take One” envelope.

When you’re in need of words of encouragement, prayer, or blessing, whether your well is just slightly low or completely dry, take a slip from the “Take One” envelope. No need to return it. But when you are in a position to offer words of encouragement once again, leave a slip for somebody else. We’re hoping the natural cycles of life will keep the slips of paper flowing from one envelope to another, though if either side ever gets low, we invite you (yes, you) to replenish the blank slips of paper OR the “Take One” envelope as you feel able.

Let’s continue showing up for each other, not only when we are all gathered together but also in this new way!
