Community Connection ~ February 22, 2026: A Photo a Day!

As we enter the season of Lent, we wanted to share with you a devotional that we shared for the first time back in 2023, one that was originally shared by the United Methodist Church - the Photo-a-Day Challenge.

The Photo-a-Day Challenge is an annual offering, and you can read more about it on the UMC website. Participating in the challenge is simple: each day between Ash Wednesday and Easter is tied to a single word, pulled from the scripture passages commonly read during this time of year. Reflect on the day’s word and share a photo (or a poem, a video, or even a brief thought) on social media along with the tag #lentphotoaday. No explanation is necessary, just your image. If you engage in the challenge in this way, we’d love if you’d tag Desert Mission as well (@desertmissionumc) - that way we can participate as a community.

If you are not a social media user, you can still immerse yourself in the opportunity to “pause, remember and reflect” each day AND benefit from the communal aspects of the activity. Consider participating with the people in your household and sharing your photos at the dinner table each evening. Or start a group chat with others in our church community and text your photos to each other each day!
