Dates: April 18–25, 2026
Location: Tegucigalpa, Honduras — volunteers help establish a school library
Mission & Activities
Purpose: Support local Honduran vision by creating a library in one of over 500 schools that have requested one.
Volunteer Tasks:
~Paint murals and bookshelves
~Label and inventory the books
~Help with the library inauguration festival
~No specialized skills are required—just enthusiasm and willingness to contribute
Cost & Payment
Trip Fee: $1,100—all-inclusive, covering food, lodging, local transportation, health insurance, and one excursion to Valle de Ángeles
Deposit: $300 (non-refundable)—due by October 1, 2025 to reserve a spot
Final Payment: Due by January 15, 2026
Airfare: Not included; volunteers book their own flights to either Comayagua (XPL) or Tegucigalpa (XPL), with a recommendation for United due to reliability.
Logistics & Preparation
Lodging: Basic shared accommodations in a Presbyterian retreat center—often compared to a camp setup, with rooms shared between 3–5 volunteers
Sample Itinerary
Saturday Arrival: Check‑in, intro to Chispa
Sunday: Local sightseeing and prep
Monday–Wednesday: Library setup at school
Thursday–Friday: Inauguration celebrations
Sunday: Departure back home
