Community Connection ~ March 22, 2026: Pray in Color

As we continue on the path towards Easter, we bring you yet another new way to draw inward in prayer. This week, brighten up your prayer life by focusing on color!
This idea also originated on the Thank You for Praying blog, where they refer to it as “color prayer.” A simple concept - tie your prayer intentions to colors - opens up a world of possibilities. To start, we encourage you to choose one color per day. It can be a category of color (i.e. green) or a specific shade (i.e. sage green). Connect the color to a prayer intention, either a broader category of prayer (i.e. gratitude) or a specific prayer concern (i.e. a family member). Any time you encounter the color you’ve chosen, take a moment to pray for the intention you’ve connected to it. You can also intentionally create encounters with your prayer colors during the day - wear mustard yellow socks, or carry a purple pen, or paint a picture using only shades of blue.
Keep in mind that you are likely to find yourself encountering a color category far more often than you encounter a specific shade of that color, and make your choices with that in mind. You can even set up a few related color connections for yourself, like saying a prayer of gratitude for a different blessing each time you encounter the color red, while maroon prompts a prayer of gratitude specifically for your best friend.
If one color per day works well for you, you can keep going that way and mix up colors and prayer intentions as you go. You can also try making multiple color connections on a given day and see where it leads you. The objective is not to feel overwhelmed or constantly distracted, but to spend the day being more present to your surroundings, with a prayer life just as bright and vibrant as the world you live in!
We’d love to hear what it’s like for you to pray in color. Share your experiences, your insights, and your adjustments to this idea with us on Facebook or Instagram!
