Community Connection ~ June 15, 2025: Father's Day Love

Today’s sermon explored loving when it’s hard, which sparked an idea we’d like to share that also connects to Father’s Day. This week, as you consider the father figures who have shaped who you are, bring more of what you love about them into your life.
The core of this idea comes from Children’s Worship Bulletins. As part of a lesson they created for kids ages 7+ (which, even if you are decades over age 7, includes you!), they recommend talking about the good things that love brings out in us. What a beautiful thing to do! Perhaps love makes you more patient, more generous, or more joyful. They then provide areas of growth that you can choose to work on in yourself, but we think you’d be well-served to consider the ideas you came up with and choose one of those to work on. What quality would you like to grow within yourself? Spend some time in the coming week being intentional in your patience, your generosity, or your joy.
But today, in honor of Father’s Day, we’d like to offer you a reframing of this activity. Think about a father figure in your life, someone who has filled that role for you no matter what their “official” title, and consider the good things that person brings out in you. Perhaps they encourage you to be more curious, or more present in each moment, or more selfless. Select the aspect of their personality that you would most like to cultivate in yourself, and be intentional in it!
If your father figure is still around, we’re sure they’d love to know what you’ve taken on - and we would love to hear about it as well. Connect with us on Facebook or Instagram and share the wonderful things the dad in your life brings out in you.
